We have come across a really lovely story, that has made all of us here in the Climbing Frames UK office feel really heart warmed.
Rick van Beek’s daughter, Maddy, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she as just two months old. “She functions like a three-month-old, and one of the very few things that we know she enjoys is being outside, being in the water, feeling the breeze in her hair and in her face,’ he said.
Four years ago, she was pushed in the Grand Rapids Marathon. Rick said, “To see her being so happy and enjoying every bump in the road was more than I could handle, my emotions took over.”
Since that day, Rick has given up smoking, got into shape and has taken part in more than 70 events with Maddy. On Sunday 12th August 2012, Rick and Maddy took part in a triathlon. Rick pushed his daughter through the running stage, pulled her in a kayak through the swimming stage and pulled her along in the cycling stage.
