Spring has sprung!
It is officially Springtime, and although it may still feel wintry at times, the warmer weather is definitely on its way. Here at Selwood we are looking forward to the longer, lighter evenings, drier days, and trees full of blossom. It’s also time for a spot of spring cleaning.
While many will start on the house, we think it is a great time to get the garden sorted. Not only is it beneficial to your health being outside in the fresh air, by getting an early start on the garden you will benefit the garden come the summer months when you are getting a lot of use out of it. It’s a good time to get ahead before the weeds start to grow too! Early Spring is the time to sow seeds, tidy borders, weed, and mulch with compost. By mid-Spring you want to pay attention to the lawn, by mowing regularly, and applying lawn feed. This is especially important in gardens where the lawn gets a lot of use with children playing.
Spring Garden Ready
If you are not an avid gardener, but just want to tidy things up a bit, try some of these simple ideas; clear lawns of debris that may have accumulated and repair or dispose of anything damaged over the winter months. Fencing frequently needs a bit of upkeep, especially after some of the winter storms! Why not take a trip to your local garden centre for some inspiration and advice, pick up some smart new plants or planters (and maybe visit the cafe too!) And don’t forget, the children can help.
Make the most of the drier, lighter afternoons, and get the children outside. While it may not quite be warm enough for long trips to the park, 20 minutes outside activity brings with it loads of health benefits. Children frequently need to let off some steam when they have spent all day at school on their best behaviour, so something to burn off that energy is never a bad thing, and the bonus is that it is free and available to all. Now may be a good time to update any garden toys and furniture. The baby slide and see-saw could have been outgrown, or perhaps you have a new, larger garden and are looking for something fun to go in it? Swings are a good choice, as are slides, rock walls, sandpits etc…
Here at Selwood we stock frames and playhouses for practically any garden and budget. Our frames are compact, often encompassing space saving features such as the rock wall ladder, or monkey ladder swing beams. Made from strong, attractive cedar wood, they need very little maintenance and come with a 10-year guarantee.
