Garden Access

stair case

Preparation of your garden for a climbing frame will be divided in to safety things like safety zones, play surfaces and removing obstacles. Fun things like which features to choose and how will it be delivered. Well. how is that climbing frame getting off the lorry, into the garden and up into position for years of playing. Here is how at every stage.

Access For Delivery

Your climbing frame will come in boxes with boxes often measuring 2.4m long and over 30kg. These are listed with dimensions on product pages.

With one man delivery is getting essentially a curbside delivery which means that you will be left with some heavy luggage to move. For a small extra fee a two man delivery which will carry them into your garden should you have good access? This usually means an outside route to the garden as they are not insured for damages (your items or themselves) inside properties.

If you have a few steps let us know before the delivery takes place.

Access For Installation

When receiving your climbing frame we recommend that you familiarise yourself with parts. This is best done checking that you have everything (parts form for anything that is missing) this will make building much quicker. When using a manual they refer to bits of wood specific sizes having them all together will mean that you can quickly move through the build. It's similar story with a hardware bag (nuts, bolts, screws and washers). Some space is needed when laying out everything, this is done just before the build starts, definitely before you book an installer. For this reason, it's tough to build a climbing frame in secret, so if that's your game just make sure the garage is big enough and you have a reason to stop kids running through and ruining the surprise.

Access For Build

You really will want a cordless drill to help build a climbing frame, not for drilling, but the amount of screwing in of bolt a safety screw drill (robinsons) bit, this has a square head. Also, space to move around the frame your building (this won't be a problem as you're installing inside a 1.8m safety zone) then you can build the major segments and have no concern about tripping over bits of wood strewn around the garden.

Access For Playing

With your 1.8m safety zone fitted with a safety surface around your frame you will have plenty of space. However, you will likely want to see kids playing so you can intervene if needed. Accessibility for play can also cover safe surface options should your children or anyone need to use mobility aids around the frame loose safety surfaces won't be suitable..

You should also consider having enough space to allow other games and social activities outside (climbing frames are awesome all that needed in gardens) this means picking out a frame that wouldn't dominate the entire garden. Some of our bigger frames will dominate most small gardens. So, we have a lot of small garden climbing frames to choose from, these pack a powerful punch for fun per meter squared.
